Our Christmas Break...

We've been staying in the past few days...enjoying being at home and having a little down time. Here's a few photos of Jordan...David and I are pretty sure that she's (rapidly) losing brain cells as she's getting older...her favorite thing to say to us is this: "Sup, my peeps?" Just take a look at the photos and you'll quickly see how goofy kids can be at this age...

It Was Fun While It Lasted...

Soon it will be time to take down the tree, the cedar swags, the beautiful decorations that remind us of our childhood. Another Christmas, another year passed...

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Stand Still...

One of my favorite verses...
Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. Job 37:14

I took this in Duck Hill over the holidays. There was a purple glow around the moon. It was beautiful.

Christmas Time Is Here...

Look at Kaitlin, Megan M., and Megan P...(third picture down) they are grown! College girls...they were in our wedding when they were five or six years old...

I love this time of year...a few photos of our families...

All I Want For Christmas is a Wii...

Santa delivered a Wii to our house...it is so funny watching the kids play! David is the biggest kid of all!

Yum...

We had a few appetizers last night as we waited on Santa...two weeks ago, while the girls were painting coffee mugs for the Grandparents at Harry The Potter, I painted a tray...not too bad for the first time! As for the appetizers, I made a mean pesto dip with artichoke hearts and parmesan cheese. The meat on the tray was mighty fine...smoked Boston butt!

New Wheels...

David and I gave Shelby a new bike on Christmas Eve. We went to the trails across the street to break it in.

Santa Baby...

Last Christmas Eve, Shelby was disappointed to find out that we had no homemade cookies for Santa. She took it upon herself to put together a lovely plate of goodies for the fat man. A Sierra Mist Free, an orange, two snack size Almond Joy, and a few nibbled almonds. Poor Santa...she left a note saying that we had no milk and cookies. For the record, we did have milk! This year, we tried to do a better job. Shelby painted a cookie plate at Harry The Potter and we filled it with homemade cookies! It's the little things that make Shelby happy...here's a picture of the spread she left last year along with a picture of her plate this year. By the way, she made a confession exactly one year later...as she was preparing Santa's plate on Christmas Eve, she told me that the almonds she left last year came out of a few snack size Almond Joy. Apparently, she ate around the almonds and spit them out onto the plate for Santa...yuck....I thought they looked like they were nibbled on...

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Verse for Today...

"Don't brashly announce what you're going to do tomorrow; you don't know the first thing about tomorrow." Proverbs 27:1 (The Message)

Don't you just love that? What a smackdown! I love to look up verses in The Message... It's the Bible in contemporary language. What do I mean by a smackdown? Sometimes I feel as if a verse just smacked me upside my head! Kind of like, ooh...that's you, girl! I once heard someone say, "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans". His plans for us are so much more than what we could ever envision for ourselves...His plans are to accomplish His will. My plans are, well, let's just say they're usually selfish desires of the heart. Here are a few other verses from The Message that I like:

"Listening to gossip is like eating sweet candy; do you want junk like that in your belly?" Proverbs 26:22

"Don't be quick to fly off the handle. Anger boomerangs. You can spot a fool by the lumps on his head." Ecclesiastes 7:9

(I took a quick look in the mirror after reading that one...I didn't see any VISIBLE lumps!!)

The Message is a great companion to your Bible. It is very interesting...you should get one!
